The year 1986 was considered to be a milestone year for JMC Triveni. In that year they diverged into Cross Over Music playing calypsoes, reggae, hip-hop and soca. They acquired their first job that year in 1987 with Carnival Mas Band Rab’s Immortal.

Their efforts were recognized that year when they were awarded 2nd best Sounding Band in downtown Carnival – Port of Spain. In 2002, first time in history, an East Indian Band - JMC Triveni was awarded the Best Sounding Band in Downtown Carnival – 2002; supplying music for Mas Band Trini Revellers.

The band has played music for renowned singers at concerts such as Ricki Jai, Super Blue, David Rudder, Denise Plummer and the Mighty Sparrow, late Sundar Popo, late Kitchener including international singers Kumar Sanu, Kanchan & Babla.Every year the band hosts live Father’s Day and Mother’s Day Concerts in New York and Toronto.

The band’s popularity has grown tremendously over the years as “d band of choice” for many popular Carnival Mas Bands such as Show Case, Raoul Garib, Max Awon D’Midas and Associates etc. For the past three- (3) years they have supplied music for the band Trini Revellers and will continue to do so in 2003.

In 1993, Vierendra Persad took over the leadership of the band. Having realized their vision in the local arena as one of the top performing musical bands, Veerendra sought rapidly build the recognition and popularity of the band in the regional and international market.

Regionally, they have supplied music at the Caribana celebrations - Kallaloo, Funtasia, Borrokeets. Internationally, the band has performed in Toronto, United States, England, Guyana, Suriname. This year they will be playing for the most renowned band Luis Saldena in Toronto. They have performed at the Latin Midem Music Exhibition being the only Cross Over Band to perform at that exhibition.

In 1996, 1997 & 1998, JMC Triveni won the Best Cross Over Band at T& T Music Awards and in 1997, 1998 & 1999 the Sunshine Awards. In 1998, the band won the Lifetime Achievement Award for the Best Album in Toronto. They continue to produce the best CD combination of cross over music from Leadership 1, 2, 3 and 4 and launching 5 this year.

Twenty-five years later, JMC Triveni has indeed established itself as one of the premier bands specializing in East Indian Music and Cross Over Music locally, regionally and internationally. JMC Triveni has proven to be a trendsetter in the music industry, constantly reinventing itself, setting the standard, expanding and widening their vision by taking local music and performing globally.
