Trishul
The Trishul Orchestra

Naresh Moonian, Nalisha Ali, Nandani Kanhai, Junior Maraldo, Sunil Kanhai,
(seated) Krishna Kanhai Maraj and Indar Kanhai

The Trishul Orchestra was formed in November 1993 by Krishna Kanhai Maraj who has years of experience in the local music business, together with his son, the talented, accomplished musician/signer Indar Kanhai.

Since it's inception, th eband has quickly grown to become one of Trinidad's top ranking Indian bands. However, don't be fooled by the word "Indian"; this extremely versatile group of musicisns and signers have proven that they're pros at performing not just the popular Indian film songs and chutney selections, but English - pop and rock songs, soca, reggae and even a little Latin flavour.

They thrill audiences at various venues and shows throughout the year here at home (perhapse the most notable is the Annual Mother's Day Spectacular which comes off in May), and also entertain crowds abroad (other parts of the Caribbean and the USA) at least twice a year.

Because of their outstanding work and dedication Trishul quickly acquired sponsorship by the end of their first year from JCCL - Johnson Construction Company Limited. This sponsorship lasted for three years (from 1994 to 1997).

In 1998 Trishul was approached by The Action Tyre Company for sponsorship which has proved to be a

winning combination. Since then there has been no turning back for The Action Tyre Trishul Orchestra which uses some of the most modern , state of the art equipment to produce and approach some of the most challenging musical pieces without intimidation.

Trishul has produced CDs such as Innovation Vibes, Touch of Class and a Gift to Mom. They have also produced music for some of Trinidad's top performers such as Kenneth Seepersad, Rikki Jai, Russell Cadogan (Second Imij), Drupatie Ramgoonai and Suresh Maraj just to name a few, some of which have been recorded at the band's personal recording studio.

Once you've heard them, it's pretty clear to see why The Trishul Orchestra has earned a place as one of the top bands in Trinidad in the short space of time that they've been around. This extremely talented, versatile, uncomparable assembly of musicians and signers are guaranteed to please their audiences with their electrifying performances wherever they may be and will continue to do so for years to come.

She began singing when Trishul was formed and quickly became a favourite with the crowds.
