Mr. Amjad Farzan Ali was born to
Gapooran and Farzan Ali on January 7, 1927 in San Fernando,
Trinidad. Amjad was reared in a Muslin home. He had
a strong faith in Allah.
He received
his education at San Fernando Boy's R.C. School in Trinidad.
Forty years ago he started the first Indian Cultural
Program at Radio Trinidad, he served the borough of
San Fernando as a councilor and Justice of Peace in
Trinidad. He migrated to Miami, Florida in 1996 for
the benefits to his health and son's education. This
summary cannot even attempt to encompass the full life
he lived and all the man he is.
Loving
husband of Margaret Runa Ali and father of Ayub Farzan
Ali; brother of Ralph, Wahid (deceased), Mervyn, Lazina,
Roma, Meena, Nazim and Azaad; son-in-law of Dhanrajia
Ramberran; brother-in-law of Raymond Ramberran and family,
Kahmchan Ramberran and family, Tara Supersad and family,
Mona Ramasar and family and Elsie Harrichan and family;
uncle of Micelle Ali-Headley and Rachel Ramasar from
Miami and many other nieces and nephews from Trinidad.
Amongst
his personal friends were the late Lionel Frank Seukeran,
the late Dr. Eric Williams, the late Haji Shaffick Rahaman,
Prime Minister Basdeo Panday, the Honorable Patrick
Manning (leader of the opposition), the Honorable Consulate
Chandrodath Singh, Dr. Winston Alexis, Mr. and Mrs.
Samuel, Wazim Mohammed, Haji Baksh, Fazil Deen, Joe
Rucker and many, many more dear and cherished personalities.
Farzan loved his music and enjoyed
having conversations about politics, being around his
friends and was devoted to his family. Reading and gaining
knowledge was also a big part of his life. Amjad Farzan
Ali was a cherished father, was a conservative person,
yet an energetic man of great enthusiasm. He was a great
philosopher who led a wonderful existence. He loved
his fellow men and friends very dearly. His talent was
unique and the world has suffered a great loss due to
his death. To those who never met Amjad, he was a respectable,
caring man and illuminated any room he was in with his
encouraging words. He touched us all in a special way
and all our lives are the better for knowing him. Every
facet of his existence will be missed by all that loved
and knew him.
He passed
away peacefully in Cedars Medical Centre (Miami, Florida
U.S.A.) on Sunday, September 5, 1999 at 9:30 a.m., after
a long but courageous battle to heart disease.
