Thirty nine year old Stanley Ramlal of Palmyra Village emerged as the winner of the second preliminary round of the Mastana Bahar 2008 competition last week. A gas station manager by profession, Stanley impressed the judges with his rendition of a song originally performed by Sonu Nigam to win the first prize of four hundred dollars cash courtesy AV Drilling and Workover Limited of Penal.
The second prize was won by singer Ornella Sawh of New Grant, while the third prize was won by Dion Dookie of Gasparillo. Placing fourth was singer Krishna Mohan of Lachoos Road, Penal while Hema Ramsaran of Claxton Bay placed fifth.

This programme will be recorded on Thursday 15th May, 2008 at The Gulf City Shopping Complex in La Romaine, starting from 5:30 pm with music being supplied by The T & TEC Gayatones Orchestra led by Rishi Gayadeen. The first prize in the Mastana Bahar 2008 competition is $75,000.00 cash courtesy The Ministry Of Community Development, Culture and Gender Affairs. The recording session is free to the public and the jackpot for the popular Pick-A-Pan contest is $1,650.00 courtesy The National Flour Mills.
The next audition for Mastana Bahar 2008 will take place on Sunday 18th May, 2008 at The Esperance Village Community Centre, Derrick Road, Esperance Village, San Fernando with registration starting from 10:00 am.
